Marianne Mitzner

FACTS OF THE CASE:

Although Marianne’s case is solved, her case was mentioned in Patricia Webb’s murder, and so I would like to expand on the case a bit more.

Marianne Mitzner was 50 years old when her son found her in the bathroom of the rare coin shop she owned with her husband, on June 6, 1975. Monte (her son) ran into the street screaming his mommy had been shot.

When police arrived they concluded that it was an apparent robbery. Marianne was shot 3 times in the head, any of which could have been the fatal shot. One of the shots had the point of entry in the mouth of Marianne. Marianne’s hands and feet were also tied when she was found.

A suspect was immediately identified as a man last witnessed in the shop as: Caucasian male, 5’8, 140lbs, medium blonde shoulder length hair. He was said to be wearing a short-sleeved shirt and riding a dark colored motorcycle.

Quite a few rare coins and money were missing as identified by the husband.

The man identified and convicted of Marianne’s murder is Wesley Peery.

Wesley Peery was convicted of Marianne’s murder (the evidence of which was astounding) and another murder he confessed to while in Jail. He also confessed to another unknown murder and raping and beating women in other states as well. He was sentenced to death, and died in 1988 of a heart attack.

MY TAKE:

I believe that there is a possibility that Wesley Peery could be the suspect in Patricia Webb’s unsolved homicide. The composite done in her case had a striking similarity to Peery, and he also confessed to three murders in the Lincoln area, two of which he was convicted (Marianne Mitzner and Nancy Parker) but no name or follow up seems to have happened on the third victim. Now Peery could have been posturing and nothing he said led to a third victim, but I believe with the similarities in the cases and the cold blooded execution style murders that there is some merit to suspect Peery in Patricia’s case as well. While he is now deceased I doubt there is much Law Enforcement would be able to do to connect him to Patricia’s murder. Peery spoke at length with his lawyers while in prison, confessing and telling stories of more crimes, so I truly believe it is worth a look into those attorneys files and conversations with Peery.

I would love to hear your take on this and/or ideas on Patricia’s case that I may have not touched on or missed!

I will be back with an unsolved case this week to continue the fight to bring some light to these cold cases that still deserve justice!
